Kattiyah Queen of the North

So I was looking at some old ads and I found this one of Moet Champange from the 20s-30s that caught my eye. It just... screamed "TRY IT! I'M DIFFERENT! BUT YOUR COMFORT ZONE!" so I thought I'd give it a go.

I changed the pose around, the dress, the face clearly, the objects, and I never saw it in high rez colour so I went willy nilly!!!!

I finished this over a week ago with my girlfriend on the other side of the couch (I work on a clipboard in my living room... I'm so high tech and fancy). Kattiyah is one of her characters from the work in progress series The Four Kingdoms.

Katrina "Kattiyah" Nhykolyinya is the wife of Vahil, King of Mellodiaa the country in the far north. (Think, Imperial Russia meets Vikings meets Sweden in the 1100s? It's icy. They are awesome. Language sounds "funny" to some but it's a BEAUTIFUL culture)

She was one a formal prima dancer but was also trained as an apothecary. Her birthday being on Mid-Summer's day and her elemental power being at root, Air I thought I'd give her a summery, bright background using rich colours. (also... I wanted to try out the new shades my girlfriend gave me for Chrismakkah)

Kattiyah is wearing a gown inspired by the colours of her husbands house as this, would sit in his study I'm sure like a stained glass. Gold, Ivory and Azure. So suggested the champagne coloured dress took a white to figure how to do but I did it!!!

Done on X-Press It Blending Card with BIC Mechanical Pencil, Copic SP Multi Liners with Copic Sketch Markers over. Total Time: 10 hours I HATE SCENERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scanner ruins it... but I love it
